Indonesia is exceptional.
It is the only biggest archipelago in the world. It is made up of about 17,000 islands, and each island has something to offer. Being a land of picturesque beauty, It is also one of my favorite travel destinations. I would like to share my awesome experience and some tips for exploring Indonesia.

Best Time To Tour Indonesia
Indonesia is situated along Earth’s equator. This means that it is warm to hot throughout the year. There are also two major weather seasons: wet and dry.
Indonesia’s wet season runs between late October and April. The rains are short but heavy, and flooding is common. It is not the most ideal time to visit this lovely country. The dry season, on the other hand, runs between May and September. The sun is always out and the country abuzz with tourists, meaning that this is the perfect time to visit Indonesia.
Popular Tourism Activities To Indulge in Indonesia
I have toured Indonesia a couple of times now, and I will admit that I have not come close to exploring everything that the country has to offer.
I have, however, indulged in some of the best activities in the country. Here are some fun activities and beautiful sights that I would recommend to anyone touring this Asian nation:
1. The Picturesque Beaches of Bali
For many people, Bali is synonymous with picturesque beaches. The sun is always out, the sand is soft under your feet, and the water feels cool and refreshing. Bali is one of Indonesia’s top travel destinations for a reason. Besides the beaches, Bali is also bustling with resorts, restaurants, and many other amenities designed for your comfort.
The beaches of Bali are also excellent for diverse water sports and activities– diving, snorkeling, kayaking, and much more. The best part? They’re free to visit!
Water sports at the location are also reasonably priced; you can spend an entire day at the beach without costing you an arm and a leg. Booking a few activities at a time is recommended as they usually come in a packaged deal.
2. The Diverse, Exotic Wildlife
Indonesia’s most iconic animal is the Orangutan. These animals have been dubbed the ‘people of the forest’ because of their intelligence and human-like nature. They are majestic to look at, and– if you are lucky enough– you’ll get to interact with one. Indonesia has the world’s largest orangutan population at the Tanjung Puting National Park.
Another iconic Indonesian animal is the Komodo dragon. These are not the mystic dragons of old, but they are just as majestic. These creatures are easy to spot at the Komodo National Park. You can look, but keep your distance– they may not breathe fire but they can be quite dangerous.
Indonesia also has a variety of exotic wildlife such as the sacred macaques monkeys, big cats, exotic birds, and much more.
3. The Amazing Culture and Cuisine
Indonesia’s culture is just as unique and beautiful as its landscape. For me, the most intriguing part of exploring Indonesia was interacting with the natives and getting to learn more about their culture. You don’t have to go looking for it; the culture is all around you and is manifested in the natives’ everyday lives.
I found that the best way to explore Indonesia’s culture is by exploring Tana Troja. It is a small village in the South Sulawesi Province. At first, I was taken aback by the boat-shaped houses, but the people proved to be even more impressive.
The people here are the friendliest. They have a positive outlook on life. Fun fact: they view death as a transition to another life and welcome it with celebration and reverence.
4. Cheap Resorts in Bali
You don’t need to break the bank to tour Indonesia; I didn’t. Accommodation can be expensive, but you will be surprised by some of the deals in Bali. Some hotels and resorts in Bali charge as little as $50/night without compromising on comfort or elegance.
But this also depends on the time you’re visiting. Indonesia is a tropical country, which means it’s a popular destination both in summer and winter. Avoid the holiday seasons and compare prices across different hotels aggregate sites and you’re sure to find great deals that fall within your budget.
5. Stay Safe While Touring Indonesia
Indonesia is a relatively safe country to visit. Violence against tourists is rare, and the most you have to worry about is petty theft. However, cybercrime is on the rise. Many tourists have had their ATM cards skimmed and their banking info hacked when using public Wi-Fi networks.
It would be a pity to have your money stolen while exploring one of Asia’s most vibrant countries. Therefore, be cautious when surfing the internet. If you have to use it then ensure that you are always connected to a VPN to keep hackers at bay.
